Ok looking at sounders particularly touch screens had kinda ruled out the tz14 due to price , were about 12k but see them for 10- 11k now but they can be brought for 4025$usd out of the states which is roughly nzd5200$ or half the price they want here so suddenly they are a option , seems crazy as all the others I am looking at - simrad , garmin have almost identical priceing when converted .
Apart from the obvious hassle of having to send it back to the states if there was a warranty issue is there any reason anyone can think of why the unit wouldn't work here or alternately a good reason to pay twice as much for a local warranty?

Mike, add at least 15% for GST, could be 5% for Duty(not 100% sure on electronics duty) as well but yes they are an awesome sounder. Furuno are kings when it comes down to fish finders and there charting is now lots better since they hooked up with Jeppeson

PM epic (Carl) i think he has a TZ touch

Have had a go with them they are nice units no doubt, must be a lot of people in the supply chain clipping the ticket to have such a massive difference in price between the 2 markets this day and age of global consumerism.
Even allowing for duty - random what gets picked up from experience there would still be enough left over for transducers and installation etc and some change in your pocket compared to buying in n.z.
Maybe it's all the full page adverts and sponsorship of celebrity fishos causing the price difference.

Mike, did you see the price Semper is selling the 295 furuno for ?these machines can handle chirp down to 28khz so combine with the chirp transducer that he has in your link and you have an awesome machine.
edit.  i would go for the new TM275W chirp tranny instead of the 265

Get a Garmin plotter with  G2 Vision card and you would have the best of both worldsWink

Yep saw them but pretty sold on a all in one touch screen with the ability to network and download updates etc , how do his prices compare on other units ?
I see they rate those units on hull truth paired with a chirp sounder , it makes sense to future proof with a chirp transducer as you can still run them in a single frequency when manually tuning them but still have them chirping when needed.
Something like a b175m .
Man those guys on hull truth are tech geeks when it comes to sounders.
