Hi guys,

I have a straylining blank im considering marbling - what are you guys using to get the white canvas on your blanks before the marbling? And any special process to do this?

You can buy pigments from http://fibreglassshop.co.nz and you can either put a coat down first of white and let it dry then use a clear to marble into, or you can put a coat of white down as a base and marble into that. I always add a coloured base to marble into even if I'm using for example a black blank and want to marble into black.

Do a base of white first you may have to lightly cut it with a 3M scotchbrite pad once its totally dry, then use another coat of white to marble into. Natural carbon can be hard to cover with white unless you use a white base coat and white top coat.
You can even use a white spray paint base but do a test piece first as some spray paints can wrinkle and lift when the 2pot epoxy is applied over them.
