After a somewhat prolonged search I have found my new boat, and the build is underway.

The search for my perfect boat ended almost simultaneously with an enquiry to Hall Marine Design coinciding with my stumbling across Supreme Boats, tucked away in Ongare Point, near Tauranga.

Hall Marine Design needs no introduction, with some of the countries best recreational and commercial designs to their name.
I had my eye on their 5m centre console, and after some invaluable information about the boat from Rob Optimist (top bloke) it was at the top of my list.

At the same time I met Gerald Henderson of Supreme Boats, and after visiting his workshop and viewing some of the boats he had underway and completed, left blown away with his build quality and innovative ideas.

Gerald arranged a meeting with Jarrod Hall of HMD. Nothing was a problem, everything was shown and explained using 3D modelling, and the final design included a front seat/casting platform, bait tank and sealed gunnels.

Jarrod emailed me the final design and asked what I thought.

Looks good to me! The alloy sheets were CNC cut by Alloy Cats and sent to Supreme Boats.

Gerald made a start a couple of days ago, I will update with some build photos on the weekend.

Checked out the progress on the weekend, she's coming along nicely.

From this..

to this..

to this..

Just tacked but starting to show her lines. Most of the folding is done as well.

Gerald has other boats on the go as well, including a 6.2 Hardtop and a 5.5 centre console, with some real cool features going into them.

This is the Supreme 750, its a beast!

Went to see Gerald yesterday, the boat is looking mean, all the underfloor structure is welded and the floor is on.

The gunnels and anchor well are in place and the transom is underway.

Im not a big fan of underfloor lockers, I never use them and they rattle and get fish gunk in them, so at this stage Im thinking I will weld the rear wet-locker over. Still under consideration though...

Also the fuel filler will be in the transom, with a breather at the back and a second breather forward, so they will be run through the wet locker.

The forward underfloor area is for the fuel tank. You can see where the cables will run underfloor from the console to the transom.

Welds are solid.

The trailer will be 5mm alloy as well, hopefully be all done by 1st December.

He's a top man who does top work. Cousin Gerald put this puppy on my boat last year, one of his folding specials, and even though we'd had a couple of skins full by then he was still his fussy self and made sure everything was bang on. Che che… and BTW that 750 is freaking beautiful!

In hindsight cousin, maybe 13 rod holders was a couple too many LOL… Nah!!!

Yep, the 750 is the sh it alright.

Caught up with Gerald on Saturday, the 5.5cc he has underway is looking mean, it is getting pimped out with the latest chirp, Hella everything, Minn-kota bow motor etc.
Its going to be a bit of a catalogue boat for Hella and Raymarine I think.

Mine is coming along too..

Transom is in, the pod is folded and ready to go. You can see the makings of the bait board by the bait tank hatch.

Side shelves and gunnels are mostly welded but Gerald is going to flip it to do the upside down welding.

The starboard cut-out is a hatch, port cut-out is 'fish TV' for the live bait tank. Heaps of fishing room!

You can just see the full-length keel strip running up the base of the anchor hold. The chines are not fully welded yet.

The console is tacked and looking good. Hatch or no hatch on the console, any advice?
