Bit quieter today than the excitement of the last few days , still plenty of bait .
Heard there was a boat n one for a few hours in morning , don't know what happened though.
Generally nice water everywhere by the sounds with some good temps to be had further out .
Hopefully it's a bit busier tomorrow .
Naki boat sniper doing well over at Waihau with 3 tagged stripeys on 1st day of nats .

Local sammy forest aka dirty hooker leading the tagged striped marlin section !

Haven't heard . Didn't see any mention on Trophy lures Site either which is normally updated so assume it was quiet for them.
Gives us a chance to catch up to them.

Yea as Angler said, a complete contrast Monday after a very busy Sat/Sun. they must have their heads down. What action there was was back off the City again, no consolation for all of us who did the run up to Awakino area. While there were a few hooks and drops there highlights (lowlights) was one being dropped at the boat by one of the regular crews and one that was dropped after about 5 hours on 15kg when the line broke.

There are plenty there, we just need them to stick their heads up again.

Another quiet day for us although we saw one surface feeding and raised one into the gear that had a halfhearted go at the moldcraft superchugger on the short corner , 2nd fish that's come right in to the closest lure which happens to run directly above the dredge , hmmmmm coincidence ?????

Few new boats in the mix from out of town which is a good buzz as it adds to the atmosphere of the Nationals .

Heard a rumour that a naki crew is in the running to get a invitation to the I.g.f.a world champs in Costa Rica if they keep on tagging fish on the east coast ......
Can't say too much as it may jinx them but They are locked and loaded and there target is in the crosshairs .

After a very quiet Monday, Tuesday turned on again with 7 for the day. One boat tagged a double. Highlight was a 13 yr old girl weighing a fish of 125kg after she went out for a fish after school with Dad. Awesome. Sounds like it is happening in close off the city and north. Reports of heaps of bait out at 80m.

WEST COAST ONE BASE entries are coming in thick and fast with lots of interest from out of town.
Taranaki long weekend 7th, 8th, 9th March.

The crazy horse got a nice stripy on a dead squidly today to break the g- rods hoodoo , bout time......

Some mahi seen with a nice bull lost at the boat by a skipper much to his teams dismay .....

cool to see some nice boats fishing here at the moment from out of town.

Pretty quite for most of us, couple of palmy boys had a pack attack at the knuckle, tagged one. There was another couple of hookups and drops but not many. There were quite a few MahiMahi caught. There was a turtle spotted, very unusual for naki waters. Gossip says that another broady was dropped at Nth Mokau.

Guru got one to stick today heard it was a bit of tease and switch affair .

Congratulations to team sniper from n.p who as the top boat during nats at Waihau bay get an invitation to the prestigious offshore world championships next year .
Bloody awesome as there is only one qualifying event in n.z and some of n.z s best trailer boat crews head there every year to win the coveted invite to fish with the best in the world in Costa rica .

Billfish - blacks blues stripes sails spears, tuna ,mahi etc .
All circle hooks , mostly bait fishing in the tease and switch style with what we drag and snaggers would regard as light tackle.
Costa Rica looks like a bill fishos Mecca .
Link to it on previous post.

looks great conditions tommorrow and thurs davo but today was quiet from what i heard and yesterday also ( apart from a couple of inquiries)..I went out yesterday and could of wakeboarded amongst the spread all day,  was absolute sheet glass however the beaks appeared to have there snouts down, all the signs were there.. plenty of bait and skippies/tuna/ saury / blown pufferfish and workups etc.. ,maybe after this blow in the weekend they might come right, long range pointing to next monday/tues. they are definately still around. nice temps also 22 degs.
