Thanks everyone...  my brother makes a habit of catching fish mid week...  and telling me about it while I'm at work...  oh to be self employed Cry

Its quite a good lure head..  I've made a lumo version and a blue/purple version..  between the two colours they have caught quite a few stripies, a few blues, mahi, kingfish, mako and now a black..  so pretty pleased, even though I wasnt there.

oh... there was nothing in its guts...  but I guess it might have chucked it up during the fight.

Cheers Jim

Went North today. Distance covered = 85 miles. Saw one free jumper. No strikes. No Mahi and just the 2 skippies though there were more about just not feeding. Fairly good water everywhere I went. Just didn't trip over one.

Damon Heath (George))  got a striped marlin on Friday.  Third fish solo, and out of a little boat, first one was from an inflatable few years ago now , last two (this year and last year) from his trusty 14 foot fryran dinghy powered by a 30 hp tiller steer yamaha two stroke.  He backed his truck into weigh station friday evening with fish on board to weigh in at 88kg.
Damon makes his own lures and runs those.  Hopefully might make a few more and sell one or two soon.  As I'd certainly like to run one.
Damon reported lots of action Thurs and Friday -had 3 fish in gear at one point pulling string, before he got his fish later in arvo.  The marlin were around some skippie schools north of nites. Unfortunately coms cleaned out the skippies on Friday arvo -making for slower fishing on Saturday.
Last year at Matauri they (him and a mate in his trusty 14 fryran dinghy and mate (Dave) in a 13ft 6 stabi)tagged two strippes and lost a blue on 15kg, and caught a heaps of mahis.  So latest fish is no fluke, and proves good timing and doing things right gives you an excellent chance whatever the boat size.
I'm up for 10 day sojourn from next Friday, including the One base. Hopefully coms stay away a bit as sounds like was hotting up. Little boat called Obsession, if you want to say gidday.
