The local sparky says getting a flash from the stove is normal when switching grom bake to grill.

Any other sparkies have any thoughts on this, bloody pain when baking dinner and then wanting to grill the top of stuff.

I'm used to being zapped from trimming trees around lines, but not like this.
Yes it was me, I screwed it up for everyone.

Wouldn't be uncommon I'd say especially if the element is"on" when the switch is flicked. You would be breaking 15amps approx depending on the size of element so a "flash" would be the result
You could try turning the thermostat down before flicking the bake/grill switch to remove the current.

If you're referring to a "zap" ie. electric shock, then that's not normal, but could result in flicking the switch with wet/damp hands or condensation on the control panel from cooking steam.

To be old and wise you must first be young and stupid.

On the back of the oven you should find a hidden little switch labelled "Husband" and "Wife". You need to switch it off the "Wife" setting. It is a special feature designed to keep the wife awake and make sure she doesn't burn your dinner. Only thing I don't understand is what you were doing working at the stove in the first place LOL

You should select the function before the temp, otherwise the full current passes through the switch when the contacts aren't closed properly (hence the flash) and you will burn the function switch out over time.

Nope not funny....
I read Tagits post, laughed, the wife looked at what I read , and I got a clip.....
What I wonder about is If Tagit would get away showing his wife.....or would he then have to change the switch to "Husband" for a undetermined time?
