I noticed that mistake to, it was a good show though with a mix of action from blue marlin to butterfish!

Ive got an old Hohepa book, the size limit for snapper is 25cm and the limit 30! And no disclaimer. Come on bro, don't be to pedantic, user responsibility and all.

Other day, off Whangaparaoa - we caught 3 keepers (30,30,40) - and threw back 6 others in the 28-29 range. So, effectively reduced the catch from 9 to 3.

Exactly. Overall we have only 3 snapper in sn1.

Went like this . They threatened to cut our tally from 9 to 3. Knowing that would not go down well, they finally decided to give us 7 . Everyone breathed a sigh of relief and decided how nice & understanding  MPI really were. Except they increased the size from 27 to 30 cm. Of course they already knew that about two thirds of the average recreational catch was in the 27-29 cm range.

A very cleaver way to give us 3 fish even though we thought we  had seven.

And a cost free way of transferring fish from one sector to another.
