Doesnt look like the winds going to be to kind to the East Coast, we were thinking of heading up that way but 20knot Easterlies aren't the greatest. Thanks Chris,

Realize that this may be pushing the boat out trying to do both applications with one. Not much casting involved in throwing a bait off the back of a boat, so lob casting is fine.
 
Thanks for your reccomendation will take a close look at the 450.

Any heavy rod can land a marlin, likewise any heavy rod will land a King.  Trying to have one rod that will both jig and cast and land both fish is asking alot.
 
If you can accept that a short 5' Power Spell is enough to lob-cast, pitch the bait; then I think the 450g rod would be best.  There is a big difference between the 450 to 400.  Being parabolic has big advantages in fighting, they are very similar to the short fold-away action of the classic standup rod.
 
I would love to see a Power Spell land both a marlin and a kingie in the one day!
