6-piece fly-rod from Shakespeare

No, it's not a bizarre fashion creation from the catwalks of Paris - much better: a six-piece fly rod from Shakespeare, UK.

Ever wished you had a fly rod on you on that trip where there was no way to take a conventional two piece? With this baby all you need is less than 19 inches (49cm) of space and you're prepared for most freshwater (and light salt water) scenarios in the country.

The Shakespeare Traditional Travel Fly 1720/270 assembles into a 9 foot (2.7m) 6/7 medium action graphite weapon with a rosewood insert uplocking reel seat, hook keeper, lined stripper guide, 9 snakes and tip ring tastefully bound in dark blue. The bindings are finished beautifully without the cheap lumpy epoxy finish so often seen these days. A class act is completed by the zippered brown vinyl case with a rich red lining. I tried it out on the Rangitikei and it performed well. It got me into some fish I would never have met otherwise.

At only $180.00 it's a beauty and all I can say is never again will a mass of holiday luggage stop me fishing!
