“I love to fish the winter spawning runs on the mighty Tongariro, and in the past, there didn’t seem to be an all round wader to fit the demands that this river puts on an angler. Warring the full chest waders from Walrus did the job. They were light and comfortable, and most importantly, easy to walk long distances in. Deep wading was a breeze, with no crushing effect that you normally feel in traditional neoprene waders.” Geoff Muir.

At 5am on a frosty Turangi morning with the mist heavy on the water, the last thing you want to be is cold. Walrus have designed the ultimate weapon against the elements with their full chest waders

Walrus waders are made of high-density closed-cell chloroprene. They are totally waterproof, warm and comfortable to wear. The closed-cell neoprene from which they are made is reinforced on the outside with nylon and lined inside with a warm plush pile, which reduces condensation and friction, making the waders easy to put on and pull off. Because closed cell neoprene contains thousands of tiny insulating air bubbles, it is light in weight and flexible while providing excellent thermal insulation. All Walrus waders are individually made and tested in New Zealand. Seams are cross-link bonded and rubber taped for strength and durability. Walrus waders are available in Bush Green or Camouflage, fitted with either cleated or felt soles.

Products available include chest, waist and thigh waders in both green and camo. You have the option of felt soles and and all waders can be custom made to fit. They also have an excellent range of neoprene gloves and boots that are well worth enquiring about.
