'Fishing Rocks' is Extreme Fishing Productions' follow-up to their hugely successful Coromandel Safari video. It features the same bunch of fishing freaks, plus a few new ones, in some great landbased action.

The video follows Ants, Mavis and Dave, and several parties of anglers fishing with Coromandel Safaris, over a month of rock fishing around Coromandel Peninsula and Great Barrier Island. While the film is loosely a record of a month's fishing in some pretty spectacular places, Mavis and the boys have interspersed a fair bit of how-to, plenty of humour and more than a bit of their philosophy on fishing and fishermen. These guys are really (and I mean really) into what they do!

The philosophy may or may not be you, and the blatant endorsements for various show sponsors (admittedly mostly tongue in cheek) will not please some viewers, but there's no denying the professionalism of the presentation. The soundtrack's good too, although the song about the dog, well... you decide.

There's no doubt this video is entertaining, and if anything it is even slicker than the first (Coromandel Safari), which itself set a production benchmark for fishing videos. There's some good info on baits, berleying, rigs and tackle (only niggle: all that talk about uni-knots but the animation shows a locked blood-knot - confusing!), plenty of fish, more than a few laughs and even a bit of outdoor cooking.

Most of all, it's a lot of fun to watch: Ants, Mavis and Dave are clearly having such a good time that you can't help but get caught up in their enthusiasm. And that's got to be good for fishing.
