Trev's can't resist shellfish.
I like to get a few pipi and steam them open. I keep the pipi flesh, which has been toughened by being lightly cooked, in a container and pour the juice and shells into a container which I add leftovers from the fridge. Cooked rice is good because it absorbs the pipi juice.
I also usually can find a half eaten can of flaked tuna. To give it a bit more body I try to add some old bait which I've kept from my previous trip - cutting up some old pilchards or bonito scraps and blood are ideal. Then into the freezer.
The more body in the form of old bait you can add the longer it lasts. Put it into an onion bag and drop it over the side and at the same time put your line out with 3 to 5 of your pipis on a hook and hold on!!!!!!!!!!!!
