When you cast long enough and hard enough you can develop small cuts on that all-important forefinger, try taking the adhesive pad out of the plaster before sticking it on, this is important because of the necessity of retaining sensitivity of balancing line you're about to cast. It won't get as wet and slip off your finger either.
