Reels - casting tip

Casting with multiplier type reels in wet weather can be tricky because the spool can slip no matter how much thumb pressure you apply, especially when using powerful casting styles.

To improve the amount of grip cut a 25mm by 200mm strip from an old bicycle inner tube and keep it taped to the rod just below the reel so that it hangs down towards the butt-end.

When casting place the free-end over the spool under your thumb and cast.....no more spool slip.
