Shell-fish make great baits but can be fiddly to bait up with.

To save time prepare your baits at home before your trip.Take them out of the shells and pat dry on kitchen paper, thread a few onto a wooden skewer or baiting needle and secure with plenty of bait cotton to form "sausages" wrap loosely in foil and store in a plastic food container in the fridge.

Don't waste the juice keep it in a container and mix with any fish oil to make an effective bait enhancer. When fishing just slide a legnth of the "sausage" onto the hook and cut.

You can even mix different shell-fish to make interesting cocktail baits or add in strips of squid when making them.Any that are left at the end of the day freeze down.
