Advice & Info: Lines - getting the twists out of monofilament lines

Cut all your tackle off just above the swivel. As the boat gets moving put the line in the water, letting it take the desired amount out - 4 to 6 knots is fine and remember that the drag on the line as you put more in the water will be significant so make sure it doesn't get away on you and you spool yorself!. Leave for 2-3 mins then reel it back in. All your twists and tangles will be sorted.

Preventing line twist:

Winding when a fish is pulling against the drag on an eggbeater reel. Every complete turn of the handle puts 4-6 twists in the line.

A well tied and correctly sized swivel (for the line weight) will help

Use straight hooks for trolling rather than normal fishing hooks which are offset and will cause your lure to spin and line to twist
