When livebaiting, rather than muck around with cotton to attach a balloon to a ball bearing swivel do the following:
1) Inflate and tie the balloon
2) Poke the tag end of the balloon through the swivel eye.
3) Through the tag end poke a match stick (I usually use 1/2 a match) about 1/2 way through.
This stops the tag end pulling through the swivel eye (good for big livies). When you get a strike the tag end of the balloon will tear and free your rig from the ballon.
