Advice & Info: Reels - setting lever drags

For a DIY light tackle drag setting without expensive scales just use a milk container or two to accurately set the drag. 1 litre of water weighs 1kg and the plastic container weight is negligible.

Fill the container/s to give the required drag you want in Kg (e.g; 1 x 2L milk container = 2Kg) and attach to your swivel. Set the drag so that the container almost lifts off the floor/deck - that setting is ~2kg.
