Raymarine’s new T-800 Series camera is a long-range marine detection and tracking system.
Using a combination of ultra long range and thermal night vision sensors, the new T-800 Series can detect man-sized objects at up to 4.2km away and small, 2.3-metre objects at up to 12.4km away.
Once detected (either visually or on radar), the sophisticated T-800 Series then links with any modern Raymarine MFD to track those objects.
“The T-800 Series’ video tracking locks onto the objects and follows them as long as they remain in view,” says Mark Milburn, CEO of New Zealand Raymarine distributor, Lusty and Blundell Ltd. “In addition, the system’s radar tracking identifies and tracks specified radar returns, a real safety bonus when visibility is low.
“Active gyro-stabilised 360-degree pan and tilt capability means the T-Series can also continuously pan through 360 degrees, while tilting at plus or minus 90-degrees. This provides steady, long-range imaging, even in rough seas, enhancing situational awareness.”
The secret to the T-800 Series’ success is its triple sensor array: a thermal detector, complete with digital detail enhancement, to provide sharp, clear images even when there are extreme temperatures or large fluctuations in temperature; a high resolution colour camera, for use when visibility is good; and a sophisticated low-light black and white camera to provide extra detail at night.
The T-800 Series also features include a Picture-in Picture mode that can display images from two of the three sensors at the same time (one full screen and the other as a smaller inset).
